People come to therapy in different ways. Some begin with an initial session to see whether the work feels like a good fit, while others prefer a more structured consultation to help them think about what they need and what form of therapy might be most helpful.

There is no single starting point or fixed pathway. Some people choose to come for a four-session consultation only, using this time to reflect on their difficulties without necessarily moving into ongoing therapy. Others begin with a consultation and then continue with open-ended or time-limited psychotherapy, EMDR, or a combination of approaches. Some start directly with ongoing therapy or EMDR. These decisions are made collaboratively and can be reviewed over time, allowing the work to develop in a way that feels appropriate, contained, and responsive to your needs.

Approach | Consultation

I offer a four-session consultation for those who would like a structured space to think about their difficulties and whether ongoing therapy feels right.

These sessions provide an opportunity to begin exploring what has brought you to therapy, to reflect together on your needs, and to consider the most appropriate way forward.

At the end of the consultation, we would discuss whether to continue with open-ended or time-limited psychotherapy, EMDR, or whether a different approach might be more suitable.

Approach | Psychotherapy

I offer both open-ended and time-limited psychotherapy. Sessions are held weekly at a regular time.

Much of my work involves supporting people who have experienced complex or developmental trauma, where difficulties may be longstanding and hard to put into words. Psychodynamic psychotherapy allows space to explore emotional experience, unconscious patterns, and relationships over time, supporting deeper and more sustainable change.

The pace and focus of the work are shaped collaboratively, with careful attention to safety, stability, and meaning, including awareness of how emotional experience may be held and expressed in the body.

Approach | EMDR

I offer Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) both as a standalone treatment and as part of ongoing psychotherapy, depending on your needs and preferences.

Some people come specifically for EMDR to work with the effects of trauma or distressing memories. Others choose to integrate EMDR within open-ended psychodynamic therapy. We would discuss this together during an initial consultation.

My approach to EMDR is trauma-informed and carefully paced, with attention to emotional containment and readiness, particularly where trauma is complex or developmental.
